Originally from Connecticut, Sam spent four years studying at the New Hampshire Institute of Art and graduated with her BFA in Fine Arts and a minor in Art History in Spring 2016. Sam trained as an oil painter for the first three years of her BFA program, but delved into the world of installation, book-making, letterpress and fiber arts for her senior thesis exhibition. She is interested in exploring the fallibility of memory, familial traditions, and the cross section of social issues and religion. Alongside her art practice, Sam is the co-founder of Flock Gallery NH, a nomadic pop-up gallery, and The Millennial Press, a community letterpress shop located at her alma mater. Both groups have helped to enrich the arts community at NHIA and the surrounding city of Manchester.
Sam now operates an independent and growing letterpress shop out of her Manchester apartment and continues to pursue painting, book arts and sculptural outlets. Her letterpress work can be purchased online or in-person at various fairs and markets throughout the year. Visit her instagram to find out where Sam will be traveling next.
Sam also teaches for the Community Education and Youth Arts Departments at NHIA and other community locations. Visit the Upcoming Events page to learn more about upcoming classes and workshops she will be teaching.
